India is blessed with a large S&T Diaspora spread across the world contributing to the progress of the respective countries they have chosen to live in. Quite many of them are eager to share their knowledge and experience for accelerating the pace of development of Bharat provided suitable engagement opportunities are available to them. Government of India together with Vijnana Bharati, the largest science movement of India, wish to strengthen the connect with the Global Indian Scientists & Technocrats through the GIST Meets to provide an ecosystem through a collaborative platform to harness this wealth contributing towards India’s development.
Since 2019, GIST has been arranging GIST Meet as an integral part of annual India International Science Festival. In 2020, GIST arranged a virtual GIST Meet in the backdrop of Covid-19 from December 22-25.
GIST Meet was inaugurated by Hon. S&T Minister Dr. Harshvardhan. Many globally eminent scientists and Technocrats shared their valuable thoughts and visions of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat including Dr. Vijay Bhatkar (Architect of India’s national initiative in supercomputer Param), Dr. Anil Kakodkar (Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, India), Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar (World-known scientist who won Patents of Haldi, Neem and Basmati Rice for India), Dr, Vijay Raghavan (Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister of India), Dr. Shekhar Mande (Director of CSIR).
